A senior cybercrime inspector in Telangana lost approximately Rs. 39.37 lakh to an online trading scam. He was added to a WhatsApp group promoting a trading app, MAVERICKS, which showed fake profits. After investing significant amounts, he discovered withdrawals were disabled and could not contact group administrators. He has filed a complaint, and a case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act.
