Mukesh Jalan, owner of Sadguru Engineering Allied Services Private Limited, was arrested in Guwahati by Jorhat Police for alleged financial irregularities and non-payment to local contractors involved in the National Highway 715 construction. Sub-contractors claim the firm owes them approximately Rs 4 crore after abandoning the project. Despite previous meetings with authorities, dues remain unpaid. Student organizations have protested for years over alleged malpractices, poor quality, and delays on the highway project.
