Bengaluru Court Sentences Power TV MD to Three Months Jail for Injunction Violation

A Bengaluru Rural District court sentenced Power TV Managing Director Rakesh Sanjeeva Shetty to three months in civil prison for violating an interim injunction that barred the channel from airing defamatory content against IPS officer B R Ravikanthe Gowda. The court found Shetty wilfully disobeyed the September 8, 2023 order by broadcasting programmes portraying the officer negatively, including a show titled "Power Breaking". The detention will commence after the subsistence allowance is deposited, with the next hearing on January 31, 2026.
