West Bengal Tourist Caught Stealing Religious Items Pardoned by Tawang Monastery

A West Bengal tourist visiting Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, was caught stealing religious items including a brass Buddha statue, Tingsha cymbals, a bell, and butter lamps from the Tawang Monastery and nearby Giant Buddha Statue Park. CCTV footage led to his identification and arrest, with all items recovered. The monastery management pardoned him after he expressed regret and gave a written assurance to respect religious sites, and no formal complaint was filed.
