Bengaluru Lokayukta Arrests Excise Officials for Alleged Rs 80 Lakh Bribery Case

The Bengaluru Lokayukta police arrested three Excise Department officials, including Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesh Naik and Superintendent Thammanna K.M., for allegedly demanding an Rs 80 lakh bribe to clear liquor-related licences. The officials were caught accepting Rs 25 lakh, reportedly the first instalment, following a complaint by Lakshminarayana. An Excise constable, Lakkappa Gani, was also implicated. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
