
A court in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, has sentenced Sameer Ahmed to 20 years in prison and a Rs 1 lakh fine for the kidnapping and rape of a 17-year-old girl. The incident occurred on July 14, 2024, when Ahmed allegedly lured the victim to his aunt's house, where he had a physical relationship with her and promised marriage upon religious conversion. Police charged Ahmed under kidnapping, rape, and POCSO Act provisions. The fine is to be provided to the survivor for rehabilitation.
