Navpreet Singh Dhaliwal, a 28-year-old Canada-born youth of Punjabi origin from Sudhar village, Ludhiana, was shot dead at his home in West Abbotsford on January 9. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team linked the killing to an ongoing gang conflict among drug peddlers in British Columbia. The assailants reportedly broke into his home and shot him while he was preparing for an exam. Responsibility was claimed by Dony Bal and Mohabbat Randhawa, who alleged Dhaliwal planned to kill them. Dhaliwal had been previously known to law enforcement in connection with the gang rivalry.
