In Manipur's Kangpokpi district, authorities eradicated approximately 35 acres of illicit poppy fields, estimated to yield opium worth Rs 1 crore. The operation, conducted by a joint team of police, CRPF, Forest Department, and NCB, also destroyed cultivation equipment and huts. No arrests were made. This action follows a resolution by Kuki community CSOs to cease poppy cultivation in the district starting January 1, 2026, after multiple meetings confirmed unanimous pledges from village chiefs.
