Assam Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped and Extorted in Silchar; Two Arrested

A 28-year-old woman in Silchar, Assam, was allegedly gang-raped by seven men at knifepoint in front of her boyfriend on February 19. The attackers reportedly extorted Rs 10,000 from the couple before fleeing. Two suspects have been arrested following the victim's identification, while police continue searching for others. The case is registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A journalist reporting the incident was also allegedly assaulted by an accused's family members. Investigations are ongoing.
