
In Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, a 21-year-old woman filed an FIR against her husband, Dr. Zainul Abedin, and seven family members alleging triple talaq and dowry harassment. The complaint states the accused took large sums from her family under various pretenses, including hospital setup and a government job bribe, and provided fake gold jewellery at the wedding. The woman reported physical assault and dowry demands shortly after marriage. On February 14, 2026, following an altercation, the husband reportedly pronounced triple talaq, which is banned in India since 2019.
