A Maoist commander, Lakhan Yadav, was killed in a shooting incident in Jamui district on Saturday night. Yadav, described as a dreaded figure active in the Jamui-Giridih border region, was attending a Christmas program when unknown assailants opened fire. He was an accused in several Naxalite incidents and had been out on bail. Police are investigating the motive and searching for the perpetrators.
