Bengaluru police have arrested Sharath Sharma Kalagaru, a 35-year-old former journalist, for allegedly attempting to extort 15 lakh rupees from three police inspectors. Kalagaru reportedly threatened to air news of their alleged collusion with drug peddlers unless paid. The incident is linked to a recent drug bust in Karnataka. The BTV Kannada news channel owner and a reporter have also been booked in the case, though the channel denies association with Kalagaru. Notably, the three inspectors were suspended days after the drug seizure for alleged intelligence failures.
