Security Forces Destroy Large Illegal Poppy Plantations in Odisha and Manipur

Security forces in Odisha's Similipal sanctuary and Manipur's Churachandpur district recently destroyed large illegal poppy plantations. Odisha police uprooted about 95,850 opium plants valued between Rs 1.56 crore and Rs 1.91 crore inside Similipal National Park, while Manipur authorities eradicated 22 acres of poppy fields worth approximately Rs 7.7 lakh. Operations involved multiple agencies and aimed to curb narcotics cultivation and trafficking, with investigations ongoing to identify those responsible.
