Man Arrested for Murder of Elderly Woman During Gold Chain Theft in Kasaragod

Pushpalatha V. Shetty, a 72-year-old woman living alone in Kumbadaje near Badiadka, was found strangled to death in her home on January 14. Police investigations indicate the murder was premeditated and linked to a robbery, as her gold mangalsutra was missing. A 47-year-old man, Ramesh Naik, was arrested after confessing to attempting to steal the gold chain and killing her when she resisted. Authorities continue to recover evidence and investigate the case.
