Assam Police's Special Task Force, with assistance from central agencies, arrested 11 individuals in Assam and Tripura for alleged links to the Imam Mahmuder Kafila (IMK), an offshoot of the banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). Police claim the group aimed to destabilize the Northeast by radicalizing and recruiting members through encrypted social media platforms. The IMK was reportedly founded in 2018 by a former JMB member and has allegedly become more active following political changes in Bangladesh in August 2024.
