
A youth, identified as Dilseng M. Marak, was killed and another injured when unidentified assailants attacked members of the NGO ACHIK in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district on Friday. The NGO members were reportedly inspecting an allegedly illegal stone quarry. The incident sparked unrest, leading to a shutdown and a night curfew. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma condemned the killing, announced three arrests, and appealed for peace and communal harmony. Local MLA Mizanur Rahman Kazi also condemned the violence and assured strict action.
