Motorcyclist Dies After Falling into Uncovered Trench Near Jalandhar Construction Site

A 25- to 35-year-old motorcyclist named Vikas Jassar from Phillaur died after falling into an uncovered 20-foot trench near an under-construction bridge on the Jandu Singha-Lamma Pind road near Jalandhar late Sunday night. The site lacked adequate lighting and warning signs, though PWD officials claim some safety measures were in place. The victim's body was found Monday morning, with personal belongings reportedly stolen. Police have initiated an inquest and are investigating possible negligence by the contractor and PWD.
