Three police officials in Bihar were suspended after a jewellery store worker alleged brutal assault and petrol being poured on his private parts to force a theft confession. The man and two colleagues were detained in December over a gold theft but released due to lack of evidence. The worker's health deteriorated after four days in custody. His family accused police of demanding a Rs 50,000 bribe and falsely framing him. The police have initiated disciplinary action following these allegations.
