Former Travancore Devaswom Board Official Murari Babu Dies Amid Sabarimala Gold Theft Case
Murari Babu, 54, former administrative officer of the Travancore Devaswom Board, died in Kochi after battling cancer. He was accused in the Sabarimala temple gold theft cases involving alleged misappropriation of gold-plated panels from the Dwarapalaka idols and sanctum doorframes. Arrested in October 2025 and suspended from service, he was granted bail after the Special Investigation Team failed to file chargesheets within 90 days. Babu had a prior career in Kerala Police before joining the Devaswom Board in 1997.
