Wanted UP Jail Escapee Arrested After Encounter in Gurugram

Gurugram police arrested Ankit Kumar alias Gudda, a 24-year-old wanted criminal who escaped from Kannauj jail in Uttar Pradesh in January. Kumar, with six prior cases and a reward announced by UP Police, was found hiding in Khoh village, Gurugram. During a police checkpoint near Pachgaon Chowk, he opened fire while fleeing on a motorcycle, injuring a police officer's bulletproof jacket. Police returned fire, injuring Kumar in the leg before apprehending him. A pistol, cartridges, and the motorcycle were seized, and an FIR was registered. Kumar is hospitalized and will be questioned after recovery.
