Wanted UP Jail Escapee Caught After Gunfight with Gurugram Police

Gurugram police apprehended Ankit Kumar alias Gudda, a wanted criminal who escaped from Kannauj jail in Uttar Pradesh in January, following a brief gunfight near Pachgaon Chowk. Kumar, with six criminal cases and a Rs 25,000 reward on him, fired at police while attempting to flee on a motorcycle. Police returned fire, injuring him in the leg. He was hospitalized and an FIR was filed for attempt to murder and Arms Act violations. Weapons and a motorcycle were seized at the scene.
