Three convicts from Wasseypur, Dhanbad, escaped from Hazaribag Central Jail on December 31. Searches are ongoing in Jharkhand and Bihar. An inquiry revealed security lapses by jail guards, with possibilities of direct assistance or negligence. The role of armed police is also under scrutiny. The convicts, convicted in POCSO cases, exploited darkness and fog. Two head wardens were suspended. The main escapee, Deva Bhuiyan, has a history of previous escapes and pending cases.
