A key accused in a Rs 1 crore marijuana case was acquitted in Ranchi after police claimed nearly 200 kg of seized ganja, stored at Ormanjhi Police Station, was eaten by rats. The court cited gross negligence and a broken chain of custody, stating no material evidence remained. This is not the first instance of rats being blamed for the disappearance of seized narcotics or liquor in Jharkhand.
