Delhi Deploys Paralegal Volunteers in 50 Police Stations with Limited POCSO Case Support

Only 50 of Delhi's 194 police stations have paralegal volunteers (PLVs), who primarily assist under the 'Missing Children' project rather than Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases. In 2025, only one POCSO victim in the southwest district received PLV support. The Delhi State Legal Services Authority reported training 661 PLVs on various subjects, including POCSO laws. The Supreme Court has expressed concern over gaps in PLV deployment and the shortage of mandated support persons under the POCSO Act.
