Shanghai Court Orders Mistress to Return Funds Transferred During Late Husband's Affair

A Shanghai woman, surnamed Shen, discovered after her husband Jin's death in May 2022 that he had an extramarital affair with a woman named Tao since 2015. Over seven years, Jin transferred more than 19 million yuan to Tao without Shen's knowledge. The court ruled these transfers invalid, ordering Tao to return the remaining 14 million yuan after repaying 5.4 million yuan. The court cited violations of Shen's financial rights and public morals, and upheld the ruling on appeal.
