Inquiry Launched After UP Teacher's Suicide Alleging Harassment by Education Officials

A 37-year-old government school teacher, Krishna Mohan Singh, died by suicide in Gorakhpur, leaving a note accusing Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) officials in Deoria of harassment and demanding a bribe of ₹16 lakh to clear his arrears. An FIR was filed against BSA officials following a complaint by the teacher's widow. Authorities have suspended one clerk and initiated a detailed inquiry into the allegations amid concerns over corruption in the education department.
