Uthumalai police in Tenkasi district arrested M. Balamurugan, a 39-year-old history sheeter wanted in over 90 cases across Tamil Nadu and Kerala, including robbery and murder. He had previously escaped from police custody while being transferred. Balamurugan was apprehended with his brother, M. Mahesh, who was also taken into custody. Police seized ganja, a sickle, and a two-wheeler. The arrest followed a period of intense search, including an incident where police were stranded on a rocky peak. Balamurugan's wife had died after allegedly poisoning their children and herself.
