Escaped Kannauj Jail Inmate Recaptured After Police Encounter; Search Continues for Second

In Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, an inmate named Dumpy, who escaped from the district jail on January 5, was recaptured after a police encounter during a checking operation. The accused sustained a bullet injury in his left leg and was hospitalized. Police recovered a country-made pistol and cartridges from him. Another escaped inmate, Ankit, remains at large, with authorities continuing efforts to arrest him. Rewards of Rs 25,000 were announced for both fugitives.
