A six-year-old boy, P. Mithran, died after being run over by a lorry near the Panjapur bus stand in Tiruchi on Sunday. The incident occurred when his mother, P. Ponnumani, who was driving a scooter, was hit from behind by the lorry. While the mother escaped unhurt, the boy fell and was fatally run over. The lorry driver has been identified as the accused, and a case has been registered by the Traffic South Investigation unit.
