A 28-year-old Kashmiri shawl vendor, Bilal Ganie, was allegedly assaulted by a group in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, with a video of the incident posted online. The attackers reportedly demanded he chant "Bharat Mata ki jai." Ganie, who visits Uttarakhand annually for seasonal work, filed a complaint but expressed fear of retaliation and a desire to avoid a lengthy legal process. Police have named a Bajrang Dal leader as the main accused and are conducting search operations for arrests. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has urged swift action and protection for Kashmiri traders.
