The Calcutta High Court has ordered a special investigation team (SIT) to reinvestigate the 2024 rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in Murshidabad, West Bengal, citing serious gaps in the initial police probe. The court expressed concerns over alleged political influence by the father of the main accused, a local political leader, which may have affected the investigation. The SIT, led by senior IPS officer Dr Pranav Kumar, will submit further reports to the trial court.
