An investigation into a fatal BEST bus accident in Mumbai revealed the driver, Santosh Sawant, allegedly misled police about his shift and attempted to blame another driver. Sawant, a 15-year BEST employee with three months of e-bus experience, reportedly drove the bus on a previous shift before the accident occurred during his second shift. Investigators, reviewing statements and CCTV footage, concluded the accident was Sawant's fault due to pressing the accelerator instead of the brake. The RTO report found no technical faults with the vehicle.
