Undertrial Prisoner Escapes from ICU at Pune's Sassoon General Hospital Using Bamboo Structure

A 26-year-old undertrial prisoner, Sunny Kuchekar, accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, escaped from the ICU of Pune's government-run Sassoon General Hospital on Monday evening. Kuchekar, lodged at Yerawada Central Jail, was admitted after an epileptic seizure. He escaped by removing glass panes from a bathroom window and climbing down a bamboo structure erected for ongoing repairs. Police have launched a coordinated search to apprehend him.
