Gurugram Police Auction Car to Compensate Fraud Victim Under New Law

Gurugram police have, for the first time under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, directly compensated a fraud victim by auctioning a car bought with defrauded funds. The accused allegedly duped a woman of Rs 14.5 lakh by promising marriage and used the money to buy a Volkswagen Virtus. Following a court order, the vehicle was confiscated and auctioned, with Rs 11.3 lakh from the sale handed directly to the victim in court.
