Case Registered Against Ship Captain After Collision with Fishing Boat off Kerala Coast

A Panama-registered ship, MT Solis, collided with the fishing boat St Joseph off the Kerala coast on March 7, causing the boat to sink about 70 nautical miles from Vizhinjam. Nine crew members were rescued and hospitalized, while two fishermen remain missing despite ongoing search efforts. The Vizhinjam Coastal Police registered a case against the ship's captain for alleged negligent navigation. The incident caused significant damage estimated at 1.5 crore rupees, and an investigation has been ordered by the Director General of Shipping.
