The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered FIRs in multiple cases of digital fraud targeting elderly individuals in India. A 76-year-old woman from Delhi's Munirka lost Rs 1.64 crore after cyber criminals impersonated others and used fake documents, leading to a Supreme Court-directed CBI takeover. Separately, a 72-year-old man in Kasaragod was defrauded of Rs 20.10 lakh through a similar 'digital arrest' scam involving intimidation and false claims of legal action. Investigations are ongoing.
