The Bombay High Court has ordered a trial court to expedite two narcotics cases against a Yemeni national, Galal Naji Mohammed. The court noted that detaining the individual pending trial, due to his inability to be deported, places an unnecessary financial burden on the government exchequer. The man, arrested last year under the NDPS Act, sought a visa extension. The government stated a Standard Operating Procedure exists for visa extension applications, which the court directed the petitioner to follow within a week.
