Mangaluru Rural police arrested Rohit B Das, a 24-year-old gig worker, for allegedly snatching a 32-gram gold chain worth ₹3.5 lakh from a woman on December 25. The accused, who works for Swiggy and Zomato, reportedly confessed to the theft, stating he needed money to repay a loan. Police recovered the chain and the scooter used in the crime. This incident is one of seven chain-snatching cases reported in the city this year, all of which have reportedly been traced by the police.
