
Patiala police arrested two individuals from Thane, Maharashtra, in connection with an Rs 8.1 crore online fraud case targeting a retired Punjab IPS officer. Over 500 SIM cards, allegedly used to operate fake investment platforms and communicate with victims, were seized. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into a cyber fraud network that led the retired officer to attempt suicide in December. Police have frozen 25 bank accounts linked to the scam.
