Woman Dies by Suicide in Pune Amid Alleged Dowry Harassment by Husband and In-Laws

A 27-year-old woman, Ganga Tejas Bembalkar, died by suicide on February 19 in Pune's Baner, allegedly due to ongoing mental and physical harassment over dowry demands by her husband and in-laws. Her father, a college professor from Kalburgi, filed an FIR accusing the husband and family members of abetting her suicide and dowry harassment. The couple's marriage in 2025 involved costly ceremonies, with the bride's family reportedly pressured to meet expensive demands despite initial assurances to the contrary.
