The Bombay High Court ruled gangster Vitthal Shelar's arrest in the Sharad Mohol murder case illegal, ordering his release on bail. The court found Shelar was produced before a magistrate beyond the 24-hour constitutional limit after his apprehension. Mohol was shot dead on January 5, 2024, in Pune. Shelar, added as an accused later, argued his detention violated his rights. Police contended he was taken to Pune crime branch before being presented to the court.
