Punjab Police launched 'Operation Prahaar', a 72-hour statewide crackdown targeting networks of 60 foreign-based gangsters and their local associates. Over 2,000 police teams with around 12,000 personnel conducted raids at nearly 2,000 locations, rounding up 1,314 aides on the first day. The operation aims to dismantle the entire gangster ecosystem, including financing, logistics, safe houses, and communication networks. An Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell was established to expedite bringing fugitives to justice. Authorities urged public cooperation via an anti-gangster helpline.
