Double-Decker Bus Overturns on Purvanchal Expressway in Lucknow, Several Dead and Injured

A double-decker bus traveling from Ludhiana, Punjab, to Darbhanga or Motihari in Bihar overturned on the Purvanchal Expressway near Gosaiganj in Lucknow on Monday afternoon. The accident, reportedly caused by the driver losing control—possibly due to falling asleep or speeding—resulted in five to six deaths, including three children, and injured between 14 and 45 passengers. Rescue operations involved police, ambulances, and local residents, with injured taken to trauma centers at SGPGI and KGMU. The driver was detained, and investigations are ongoing.
