Clashes Between Bodo and Adivasi Communities in Assam's Kokrajhar Lead to Internet Suspension and RAF Deployment

Clashes erupted between Bodo and Adivasi communities in Assam's Kokrajhar district following a vehicle accident on January 19, where a car carrying three Bodos hit two Adivasis. The incident led to mob violence, resulting in one death, property damage, and attacks on a police outpost. Authorities deployed the Rapid Action Force and imposed prohibitory orders. Mobile internet services were suspended in Kokrajhar and neighbouring Chirang districts to curb misinformation, while voice and fixed-line broadband remained operational. Officials, including Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, urged calm and cooperation to restore peace.
