An infant's thumb was accidentally severed by a nurse using scissors while removing an IV cannula at Indore's MY Hospital. The one-and-a-half-month-old baby, being treated for pneumonia, underwent successful surgery to reattach the thumb and is recovering. The nurse has been suspended for negligence, and three senior nurses will face salary deductions for supervisory lapses. An inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the incident, and the Deputy Chief Minister has ordered strict action against those found guilty.
