Police in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl for nearly two years. The victim's mother filed a complaint stating the accused, a neighbor, kidnapped the then 16-year-old girl in February 2024. The girl was reportedly rescued from Haryana by her grandfather and told police she was repeatedly raped. The accused was apprehended at Phephana railway station.
