Punjab Police Reconstitutes SIT to Investigate Missing 328 Saroops Case

The Punjab Bureau of Investigation has reconstituted the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged disappearance of 328 sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from SGPC records. The new six-member team, led by DIG Nanak Singh, will investigate an FIR registered in December 2025 under various IPC sections. The Amritsar Police Commissionerate is tasked with providing logistical support, and the SIT may include additional officers with prior approval. The Akali Dal criticized the reconstitution, alleging political motives.
