Hoax Cyanide Gas Threat Prompts Evacuation at Bhopal Government Office

A hoax email threatening to detonate 16 cyanide gas cylinders at the Weights and Measures Department office in Bhopal prompted evacuation and a security sweep on March 16. Police and bomb disposal teams found no explosives. Similar false threats were recently sent to AIIMS and a private university in the city. Authorities are investigating the source, suspecting a nationwide gang using fake identities. Staff resumed work after safety checks concluded around 1:10–1:30 PM.
