Uttarakhand police have formed a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the suicide of farmer Sukhwant Singh, who allegedly shot himself on January 10-11 in Haldwani. Before his death, Singh posted a video accusing local property dealers and police officials of cheating him in a land deal worth around Rs 4 crore. In response, 12 police personnel, including sub-inspectors and constables, have been suspended and transferred to ensure an impartial investigation. Authorities are examining the video and an email complaint sent by Singh, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami assuring a thorough probe and justice for the family.
