
A 51-year-old contractor, Chingakham Malemnganba Meitei, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Kakching district, Manipur, on Friday evening. Police are investigating the motive and have sent the body for post-mortem. Separately, a hand grenade and a warning note from the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) were found near a fuel station in Imphal West. A Joint Action Committee condemned the killing and demanded a thorough investigation.
